The Remote Control Unit (RCU) is a multifunction
integrated computer and display product that meets the
needs of today’s digital armored force for battlefield
conditions. It provides a ruggedized package with design
enhancements to COTS subassemblies to provide an
affordable, lightweight COTS solution.
The RCU utilizes the latest Active Matrix Liquid Crystal
Display (AMLCD) technology and Pentium processor.
Additional functions include an RS-170a video input for
overlay video, a high-resolution infrared touchscreen
and up to 28 user-defined function switches. The RCU
provides remote operation up to 50 meters and can handle
most field operation software. In addition, extensive self-
test functions have been incorporated into the unit.
Each component was selected for its applicability to
the ground mobile market, and all units receive 100%
Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) to ensure there
are no workmanship issues or latent defects. Further,
our ESS is designed to provide 100% screening of COTS
components to assure our products perform as specified.
The RCU has been qualified to the
extreme environments specified for
military ground mobile vehicles. Our
approach is to fill a customer’s product
need with a minimum development
time if derivative needs are necessary .
