L-3 Interstate Electronics Corporation GPS Receiver Successfully Acquires and Tracks Live Block IIR-M Satellite M-Code ANAHEIM, CA – October 27, 2009 – L-3 Interstate Electronics Corporation (IEC) announced today that its latest Modernized GPS receiver has successfully acquired and tracked live block IIR-M satellite M-Code (Pseudo M-Code) signals indicating proper operation of many receiver functions. M-Code acquisition and track are very important steps in the integration and completion of the new receiver. This effort was accomplished in September and demonstrated to government representatives using an L-3 developed Ground Based GPS Receiver Applications Module (GB-GRAM-M) designed under the Modernized User Equipment (MUE) Receiver Card Development Program, awarded in June of 2006. The L-3 developed GB-GRAM-M card incorporates L-3’s single ASIC solution, the Melody ASIC, which has been designed to satisfy the modernized GPS needs for providing reliable GPS Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) information to the warfighter. As a member of the U.S. Air Force’s MUE program, the L-3 team will continue integration throughout the rest of this year, culminating in the delivery of pre-production GB-GRAM-M cards in February of 2010. Modernized GPS will help to ensure that the future warfighter is provided with the highest level of availability, integrity, authentication, and exclusivity of GPS PNT information.
