ANAHEIM, CA - March 31, 2003 Interstate Electronics Corporation (IEC) a wholly owned subsidiary of L-3 Communications Corporation (NYSE:LLL), announced it has been awarded a contract with Lockheed Martin to provide TruTrak Selected Availability Anti Spoofing Module (SAASM) GPS receivers, over a one year period for the Wind Corrected Munitions Dispenser Program. The addition of a GPS receiver will enhance the current fuzing process during the deployment of munitions dispensers.
The IEC TruTrak receiver is a compact robust SAASM-based GPS unit, developed for advanced weapons systems. The TruTrak receiver consists of a SAASM module, radio frequency (RF) down converter and I/O logic. The XFACTOR SAASM module is a secure tamper-resistant, multi-chip module that decodes the Department of Defense GPS Precise Positioning Service Signal.
The Wind Corrected Munitions Dispenser (WCMD) is an inexpensive tail-kit that turns existing cluster munitions (CBU-87,-89, and -97) into all-weather precision-guided weapons. By correcting for launch transients, ballistic errors, and winds aloft, Lockheed Martin’s WCMD provides strike aircraft with an accurate pattern lay-down capability for cluster munitions from any operational altitude or weather condition.
