SAN DIEGO, CA – February 18, 2009 –L-3 Interstate Electronics Corporation (L-3 IEC) announced today the release of a new micro version of the company’s VideoScout® video exploitation and management system. The VideoScout-MXR includes an integrated receiver to enable forward personnel to directly receive, exploit and disseminate video and telemetry data from multiple Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) sensors including Unnmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). VideoScout-MXR deliveries will begin the second quarter of 2009. Weighing only 3.1 pounds and designed to fit conveniently into a warfighter’s cargo-pocket or backpack, the hand-held VideoScout-MXR is a full featured Windows®-based computer that extends functionality beyond traditional receive and view only systems. The system is delivered with one integrated L, C or S-band receiver and can be ordered with optional user replaceable receiver bands. “VideoScout-MXR puts a compact wireless, easy to use video exploitation tool directly into the pockets of our warfighters,” said Larry Vernec, senior vice president of marketing and strategic business development of L-3 IEC. “And, it allows users to better leverage captured imagery, helping to create actionable video for on the move mission planning, execution and post mission analysis.” Mr. Vernec also noted that the VideoScout-MXR is interoperable with other VideoScout products currently fielded by U.S. forces, including the Marine Corps. L-3’s VideoScout-MXR allows personnel to display live video with full DVR features, extract subset video, create images with telemetry data, and annotate and archive video and images for easy search, retrieval and dissemination. To help INTEL operations share a common view of the battle space, VideoScout-MXR has capability to connect to a network, large monitors, keyboards or peripherals to create a full, shared workstation environment. In addition, VideoScout-MXR’s interoperability allows users to access and use common Windows applications on the same system or via network. Personnel can geo-locate video using VideoScout’s integration with common mapping software such FalconView® while remaining on the move, or with Google® Earth when connected to a network. Users can view incoming video and associated maps side by side, with vehicle position, path and field of view plotted in real time. Tactical INTEL personnel can locate previously recorded videos and images by selecting a desired area on a map. VideoScout-MXR automatically finds and displays all instances of video and images available for the selected geographic area with corresponding lat/long, date/time and annotations.
